A frequent question we get when we talk to prospective customers is, “why wouldn’t we just use Mulesoft (or Boomi or whatever iPaaS they have) to connect our systems? Why should we use YuzeData?”
It’s a good question, and a fair one, so we put together the following decision tree to help:
If you already have an iPaaS, and budget isn’t an issue, and your IT has capacity and domain expertise, or you can afford to wait until they free up and/or climb the learning curve, then an iPaaS may be the right choice. However, this misses an important consideration.
We specialize in the structure and flow of data specific to our domain, and every feature we build is designed with it in mind. Besides letting us achieve a faster path-to-value, it also lets us derive intelligence that we pass back to our customers. For example, we detect and proactively alert on important missing attributes from supplier information, especially relative to a customer’s peers in their industry. But to an iPaaS, a supplier is just a record in a table.
What about AI? Can’t customers just layer AI over a full-featured iPaaS to get the same domain expertise?
The reality is the complete opposite. It’s easier to build a missing software feature using AI than it is to extract domain expertise from one, simply because LLMs have been trained on billions of lines of software code, whereas domain knowledge is still by and large trapped in a lot of peoples’ heads. So even if you did use an LLM to perform transformations on a set of data, or derive intelligence from it, you’d still need domain experts validating every transformation, every derived insight, every edge case – which negates the entire efficiency gain of using AI in the first place.
